There are a few things about the Addams family that are a little off. OK. Not just a few things, and most of those are really off.
The beloved family, headed by Gomez and Morticia Addams, has always been full of surprises.
And on Thursday and Friday nights at 7 p.m., Nov. 17-18, the Prairie View theater department will be presenting the musical “The Addams Family School Edition,” at the Prairie View Performing Arts Center on the high school campus west of La Cygne.
The script, taken from the original off-Broadway musical, has been adapted for school use, taking out some things but leaving in most of the laughs.
Called "a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family," the musical features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare.
“Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family–a man her parents have never met,” according to the liner notes on the musical.
“And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before–keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia.
"Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.”
