The Prairie View football team will take it on the road to Iola for a league game this week after suffering its first loss of the season at home last Friday to Girard, 38-15.
Taking a perfect 4-0 record into last Friday’s matchup, the Buffaloes early in the game looked to repeat their game-winning ground game against the non-conference Trojans.
Girard got on the scoreboard first with a 45-yard run for a touchdown in the first quarter. Prairie View answered with a 75 yard drive that included a 44-yard pass from Damien Kline to Zach Theis and a 27-yard run by Bodi Isenhower for a touchdown.
With Isenhower sidelined with an injury, Kline ran for more the 60 yards in a second-quarter drive, crossing the goal line on a 27-yard run.
However, with the score tied at 15-15 late in the second quarter, the Girard defense put the brakes on the Buffaloes rushing game, holding them scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The Buffaloes, 4-1 overall and 3-0 in league play, face the Iola Mustangs (2-3 overall, 2-1 league) play this Friday in Iola. Prairie View is currently tied with Wellsville for the lead in the Pioneer League.
