The Prairie View Buffalo are in second place in the Pioneer League football standings after their win over the Osawatomie Trojans last Friday. The Buffalos are currently 2-0 against league opponents and 2-1 overall with their loss to Parsons, 52-26, in the first game of the season.
The Wellsville Eagles are on top of the standings with a 3-0 record, all against league teams. Wellsville has won against Burlington, 25-7; Iola, 48-7; and Anderson County, 40-6 – scoring a combined 113 points against opponents’ 20 combined points.
The Eagles will likely present the greatest challenge for the Buffalos going forward in the season.
Not that the other teams can be discounted. The Anderson County Bulldogs have a 2-1 record against league teams and are currently in third place.
The Burlington Wildcats and the Iola Mustangs both have 1-1 league records, and both lost non-league games for 1-2 overall records.
The Osawatomie Trojans and the Santa Fe Trail Lancers have 0-3 records, all of the losses coming against league opponents. Both of those teams lost to Prairie View.
The Buffalos travel to Burlington on Friday in a match-up against the Wildcats.
