Burn ban lifted following day of high winds and high fire danger

PLEASANTON – A burn ban for Linn County that was implemented on Tuesday was lifted on Thursday, Dec. 16, after a daylong weather event that included sustained high winds.

In asking for the ban, Linn County Emergency Management Director Doug Barlet told the commissioners on Monday, Dec. 13, that the winds on Wednesday are expected to be in the 40-mile-per-hour range with gusts up to 60 miles per hour between From 9 a.m. to midnight.

There is also a chance that those winds could be in excess of 60 miles per hour for a sustained period of time, he added.

As county residents witnessed, those predictions were accurate.
