MOUND CITY – Linn County Public Works Director Shaun West gave a report to the Linn County Commissioners on Monday, Dec. 27.
West said that he had received a resignation letter from Planning and Zoning Director Bobby Young that his last day would be May 27. Young also is the sanitation and codes enforcement officer.
The commission agreed to advertise for this position so that a new person could train with Young.
West gave a tentative landfill holiday schedule for 2022 to the commissioners.
West said that he would like the commissioners to look at it so that he could post this at the landfill and the website starting at the first of the year so that trash haulers would be able to prepare their schedules.
This year, the issue came up a couple of weeks before the holidays and the county commissioners voted to keep the landfill open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. to accommodate the haulers
West also reported about placing a “stop sign ahead” sign at the intersection of County Roads 530 and 1077 east of Parker. West said that he had received a complaint that because of a small rise in the road there is some concern that people may miss the stop sign.
He said that he had received a second call about it just recently. He is looking at putting up the sign and possibly some rumble strips.
