County fire department, ambulance report for May 1

MOUND CITY – The fire department and ambulance service gave their weekly reports to the Linn County Commissioners on Monday, May 1.

Linn County Fire Chief Randy Hegwald reported that there were seven runs the past week, making the year to date total 158. His report showed that the runs were for two building fires; two unauthorized burnings; one smoke detector with no fire, unintentional; one brush or brush-and-grass fire; and one gas leak (natural gas or propane).

Hegwald asked for an executive session for personnel with the fire board attending. No action was taken from that session.

Hegwald informed the commissioners that Pleasanton School District held a community service day and students from the school came to the fire station to wash the trucks and clean. He said it was something that they do annually.

American Medical Response (AMR) Operations Manager Galen Anderson reported that there had been seven transports the past week for a total of 50 calls in March.

Anderson said that AMR was still looking to fill a paramedic position in Linn County.
