MOUND CITY – Linn County will be hosting a Job Fair in partnership with KANSASWORKS on Saturday, April 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mound City Baptist Church, 8424 Payne Road.
According to Morgan Northcutt at the April 4 commission meeting, there is a lot more participation from companies this time. The companies include Tri-Ko, the cities of Pleasanton, Mound City, and LaCygne, all of the Linn County school districts, Doherty Steel, Lakemary Center and Linn County Government departments including courthouse offices, public works and the sheriff’s department.
Northcutt said they were making it big but not too big. She said that she had reached out to most of the schools for the seniors who feel that college is not there way to go.
Northcutt said that KANSASWORKS was doing a lot of advertising for the county. She said she had been working with Bruce Sharp out of Paola. Because it is federally funded, it is all free to the county.
“It’s a great opportunity and a great tool that we can use,” Northcutt said.
