MOUND CITY – On Monday, Nov. 29, the Linn County Commissioners approved two road burial permits.

Linn County Public Works Director Shaun West presented the permit applications. The first applicant was Miami County RWD #3 to place a water line to 35680 Plum Creek Road. The second was Heartland Electric to cross the road with an electric line at 1150 Road East of Leasure Road. Both applications were approved by the road foremen.

West and County Commissioner Jim Johnson reported on clearing brush at 350 Road and Kansas Highway 31 so that drivers could see at that intersection. Johnson said that the State of Kansas had agreed to clean up brush on the landowner’s property and bring in their forestry equipment to grind it up.

The county and state agree to mowing the area every other year. Linn County will also purchase a gate and repair the fence for a total of $287.

The owner of the property is in agreement with this and waivers to allow the state and county to clean off his land will be taken for him to sign by Johnson. The commissioners moved to enter into an agreement with the landowner and the state for keeping up this intersection.
