County law enforcement, first responders report

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners received emergency call and law enforcement statistics from the past week, on Monday, Jan. 31.


County Clerk David Lamb read an email from Linn County Fire Department Chief Doug Barlet. From Jan. 24 to Jan. 30, there were 13 incidents. They were four medical assists, three calls cancelled enroute, one special-type incident, one motor vehicle with injury, one building fire, one trash and rubbish fire, one brush fire, and one grass fire.


American Medical Response (AMR) Supervisor Galen Anderson told the commissioner that in the last seven days there had been 15 transports and month-to-date there had been 52 transports. Anderson said he would give the final monthly report for January at next week’s meeting on Feb. 7.


Linn County Sheriff Kevin Friend reported that the number of prisoners in custody was 13, with seven prisoners being release during the past week. Three of those prisoners were farmed out to other facilities.


The office received 134 calls to 911, served 28 court papers, performed 19 vehicle identification number inspections, opened 12 new cases and closed 10, worked four vehicle accidents, and worked six instances of livestock out.


The school resource officers in the counties three school districts had 93 calls for service during last week. There were no contacts made by the bailiffs because court was not being held in person last week.
