MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commission signed an agreement on Monday, Oct. 4, for Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission (SEKRPC) to administer an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for the county.

Half of the grant, more than $942,000 was recently received by the county. The county will receive the other half next year for a total grant of more than $1.88 million.

The SEKRPC will administer the grant for 5 percent of the total or more than $94,000. That amount will be paid to SEKRPC over a five-year period.

ARPA funds are from the $1.9 trillion dollar federal stimulus bill signed on March 11 to aid public health and economic recovery through state, local and territorial and tribal governments.

The fund categories include the categories of access to justice, arts, culture and tourism, broadband, economic relief and development, education, general infrastructure, housing, human services, public health response, revenue replacement, state operation and administration, unemployment trust fund, water infrastructure, workforce development, and other areas.
