Updated: Mar 24
MOUND CITY – Linn County Treasurer Janet Kleweno gave a brief report to the Linn County Commission on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
Kleweno pointed out that the interest the county was earning was going down because the money from the Justice Center construction project was being paid out.
She also reported on the county’s fourth quarter interest report. The total amount of interest earned was $8,117.23. This came from just over $600 in the Super Now account, more than $5,800 in certificates of deposit (CD), and almost $1,600 from the construction CD.
Kleweno said that there were no longer any construction CDs. The remainder of the construction money is now in a checking account.
Kleweno also handed out the delinquent tax report. The report showed that as of Dec. 31, 2021, the delinquent real estate taxes were more than $890,000 and the delinquent personal property taxes were nearly $30,000.
