MOUND CITY – A rural Blue Mound man was taken into custody on Sunday, Feb. 13, following a 911 call from his ex-wife. She reported that he had brandished a rifle and threatened her and others at her home in rural Mound City.
According to Linn County Sheriff Kevin Friend, the 911 call came in shortly before 11 a.m. The alleged suspect left the residence as family members were calling the sheriff’s office.
Deputies found the suspect’s vehicle at a rural Blue Mound residence. According to Friend, the suspect was known to have violent tendencies, so deputies set up a perimeter around the property.
Friend said negotiations with the subject initially failed, and deputies surrounded the house. The man finally exited the house and was taken into custody without incident,
Armed with a search warrant, deputies found the weapon that was allegedly used in the incident in the subject’s vehicle.
