Fire, ambulance reports for week ending May 13

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners heard weekly reports from the ambulance and fire department on Monday, May 15.

Galen Anderson, Operations Manager for American Medical Response (AMR), told the commission that things were getting busier as the weather warmed up. He reported that there were 16 transports the past week and the monthly total so far is 33.

Anderson said that instead of taking ambulances farther away for repair or servicing, AMR is now utilizing the Ford shop in Pleasanton. He also told the commissioners that AMR was still recruiting for a paramedic to fill the open position in Linn County.

Linn County Fire Chief Randy Hegwald told the commissioners the new assistant fire chief Brian Shroyer was starting that day.

Hegwald reported that there were nine incidents the past week. The fire report lists them as three medical assists, three motor vehicle accidents with injuries, one motor vehicle incident with no injuries, one alarm activation with no fire, and one building fire.
