Fire and ambulance reports for February 6

MOUND CITY – In his report to the Linn County Commission on Monday, Feb. 6, Linn County Fire Chief and Emergency Preparedness Director Randy Hegwald gave the commissioners a heads up that the week of March 6 through March 10 is Severe Weather Preparedness Week. He said that emergency management was planning on setting up siren testing and other activities that week. He will finalize plans on that later this month.


In the weekly fire report, Hegwald reported that there were five incidents last week., bringing the year total to 34. He also reported that the fire department continues to look for staff. He said that Mound City, one of the most populated communities, only has five firefighters.


Galen Anderson, operations manager for American Medical Response (AMR), reported for the first four days of February there had been four transports. He said the volume had been slower as they usually averaged to 2 to 2.5 transports a day.

Anderson said they were still looking to fill one full-time paramedic position.
