Fire department, ambulance service reports for Dec. 19
MOUND CITY – Weekly fire and ambulance call numbers were reported to the Linn County Commissioners on Monday, Dec.19.
Linn County Fire Chief Randy Hegwald cautioned everyone to be aware of cold weather coming later in the week. He urged people to watch out for their neighbors and pets.
He said that the forecast was for significant amounts of snow on Wednesday and Thursday night.
He told commissioners that the Pleasanton storm siren was now hooked up with the Linn County system, so it could be set off by the county.
Hegwald reported that there had been six incidents the past week for a yearly total of 538. There were two building fires, two motor vehicle accidents with injuries, one brush or brush-and-grass mixture fire and one medical assist.
American Medical Response (AMR) Operations Manager Galen Anderson reported that there had been 16 ambulance transports in the last seven days making the December total 31 so far.
Andersons said that it looked like AMR had hired a part-time emergency medical technician (EMT) for Linn County but were still working on filling paramedic positions.
