MOUND CITY – On Monday, April 4, the Linn County Commissioners heard the fire incidents for the week ending April 3 from Linn County Fire Chief Doug Barlet.
Barlet reported that year-to-date there had been 167 incidents. For the past week there were a total of 20 incidents.
Calls were categorized as eight grass fires, four brush or brush-grass fire mixture, two medical assists, one service call, one unauthorized burning, one dispatched and canceled en route, one wind storm, tornado assessment, one fire, other, and one building fire.
Barlet said on the storm event last Tuesday evening, the storm went over Linn County and turned into a tornado warning as it went into Bates County. The unit that went out found some dead tree limbs and a small piece of tin on the road right as the storm was leaving Linn County so the county was fortunate to miss out on that. No other calls were received about damage from the storm.
