Jayhawks, Blu-Jays top league standings through Week 3

At the three-week mark in the season, Mound City’s Jayhawks and the Pleasanton Blu-Jays are at the top of the Three Rivers League 11-man football standings. With both teams much improved this year, their showdown at Mound City on Oct. 7 could determine the league champion.

Both the Jayhawks and the Blu-Jays are undefeated, with the Jayhawks boasting a 3-0 record, all against league teams and the Blu-Jays at 2-0 against league opponents and 3-0 overall.

Colony-Crest is in third place with a 2-0 record against league teams and a 2-1 record overall. Other Three Rivers teams – including Southeast (Cherokee), Northeast (Arma), and Uniontown – are winless so far.

The Blu-Jays beat Belle Plaine 46-33 in a non-league game on Friday, Sept. 16. The Blu-Jays have outscored their opponents 114-61 in the three games. On Friday the team travels to Olpe, which has 1-2 so far this year.

The Jayhawks took out Uniontown 28-8 last Friday. The Jayhawks have outscored their opponents 132-14 this season.

The Jayhawks’ Homecoming game is on Friday, and they will host Northern Heights in a non-league match-up. Northern Heights is 0-3 for the year, losing last week to Council Grove 69-0. The Homecoming queen and king crowning will take place before the 7 p.m. game.
