Johnson elected to chair the Linn County Commission

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commission reorganized positions on Monday, Jan. 10. The commissioners changed officer titles with Jim Johnson being voted in as chair of the commission and Danny McCullough as vice chair. Former Chair Rick James is the other member of the three-person commission.

After paying the weekly claims of $266,020, the commissioners approved the sixteenth payment request for River City’s work on the Justice Center. The amount was $1,430,557.

The commission heard the Linn County Park report. For the year of 2021, the park had receipts of $294,531 and expenses of $258, 515.

The commissioners also approved the expenses for Linn County Emergency Management Director Doug Barlet and Emergency Management Planner Linda Simons to attend a training on operation-based exercise in Wichita at the end of March. The training was originally scheduled for last fall but was cancelled due to COVID-19.

The commission accepted the monthly fee report of $13,372 from the sheriff.
