La Cygne City Hall doors locked following a positive COVID test

LA CYGNE – La Cygne city officials announced Tuesday morning, Jan. 11, that the doors to City Hall would be locked through Friday, Jan. 14. The announcement was posted on the city's Facebook page a little before 11 a.m.

The announcement said that the closure was because one of the staff members received a positive test for COVID-19. It also left open the possibility that the office could be closed part of next week.

Despite the doors being locked, workers will continue to do city business by phone, (913) 757-2144. Utility payments can be paid online at cityoflacygne.org or placed in the drop box by the front door.

City Clerk Jodi Wade said the action was taken to try to prevent other staff members from contracting the virus. "With our small staff, we can't afford for all of us to go down," she said.
