UNIONTOWN – A Linn County Sheriff’s deputy and his wife suffered injuries on Sunday evening, Nov. 7, when their vehicle struck a black cow in the roadway on U.S. Highway 54, 2 miles east of the Kansas Highway 3 intersection.
Deputy Nelson Blythe and his wife, Euna Blythe, both of Uniontown, were in a 2009 Cadillac DTS eastbound on U.S. 54 when the vehicle struck the cow at about 6:15 p.m.
Euna Blythe, 28, received traumatic injuries and was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. The 27-year-old deputy complained of pain following the accident, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol report.
Both of the Blythes were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
In a release on Monday, Sheriff Kevin Friend, who had been at the medical center with the Blythe family, asked for people to keep the couple in their thoughts as they struggle to recover from the accident.
