Linn County Sheriff's report for week ending Aug. 19

MOUND CITY – On Monday, August 21, Sheriff Kevin Friend gave his weekly report to the commissioners.

Friend told the commissioners that an inmate had been hospitalized at Miami County Medical Center in Paola, so sheriff’s staff has been covering there also.

The sheriff’s department numbers for the past week are:

• Total prisoners at the Justice Center the past week were 63. Fifteen prisoners were released the past week.

• No prisoners were sent to other facilities.

• Forty-one prisoners were from other facilities including the U. S. Marshals Service and Wyandotte County.

• Total 911 calls were 66. Friend said he thought that may be the lowest number since he had been there in 2019. He said maybe the heat kept people inside.

• There were 2,799 jail contacts.

• Total calls for service were 477.

• Total civil service papers served 11.

• There were nine vehicle identification number (VIN) inspection.

• Seven new cases (criminal, child in need of care, etc.) were opened.

• Five cases were closed.

• There was one vehicle crash worked by the sheriff’s office.

• There were 53 school resource officer (SRO) activities. That will pick back up with school starting.

• Bailiff contacts were 174, resulting in 33 calls for service.

• Four report of livestock out were received.
