Linn County Sheriff's report for week ending Dec. 2

MOUND CITY – On Monday, Dec. 4, Sheriff Kevin Friend submitted his weekly report to the Linn County Commission for the week ending Dec. 2.


The sheriff’s office numbers are:

• Total prisoners at the Justice Center the past week were 54. Thirteen prisoners were released the past week.

• No prisoners were sent to other facilities.

• Forty prisoners were from other facilities.

• Total 911 calls were 72.

• There were 4,158 jail contacts.

• Total calls for service were 449.

• Total civil service papers served 26.

• There were four vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections.

• Thirteen new cases (criminal, child in need of care, etc.) were opened.

• Nine cases were closed.

• There were seven vehicle crashes worked by the sheriff’s office.

• There were 84 school resource officer (SRO) activities.

• Bailiff contacts were 139, resulting in 21 calls for service.

• Ten reports were received about livestock being out.


Friend’s report showed that the current daily income from jail housing is $3,130.50.


Inmate housing (billed) for November 2023:

• Wyandotte County $39,217.50

• U.S. Marshal’s Service $45,672.00

• U.S. Marshal’s Service Transport $16,592.51
