Linn County Sheriff's report for week ending Sept. 16

MOUND CITY – On Monday, Sept. 18, Sheriff Kevin Friend gave his weekly report to the commissioners.


The sheriff’s office numbers for the previous week are:

• Total prisoners at the Justice Center the past week were 60. Ten prisoners were released during that period.

• No prisoners were sent to other facilities.

• Thirty-nine prisoners were from other facilities.

• Total 911 calls were 108.

• There were 1,745 jail contacts.

• Total calls for service were 558.

• Total civil service papers served were 13.

• There was one vehicle identification number (VIN) inspection.

• Sixteen new cases (criminal, child in need of care, etc.) were opened.

• Four cases were closed.

• There were five vehicle crashes worked by the sheriff’s office.

• There were 97 school resource officer (SRO) activities.

• Bailiff contacts were 125, resulting in 23 calls for service.

• Ten reports of livestock out were received.


Friend reported that currently the daily income from jail housing is just over $3,000.
