Mound City library promotes blind dates, Ancestry.com and two special programs

Updated: Apr 20

By Regina Casner, Librarian

The Mound City Library just wrapped up our first annual Winter Reading Challenge. To complete the challenge, participants needed to read 310 minutes. Everyone who completed the challenge received a themed button and stickers, as well as a prize!

Currently the library has “Blind Date with a Book” happening Readers can check out a wrapped book, with information that shares the genre and a few details about the story. There are books in different genres and for all age groups available. After reading, participants can “rate their date.”

New to the Mound City Library is an Ancestry.com library account. Card holders can use the Ancestry website, without cost to them, while using a library computer.

This service was partially funded by the Helen Barnes Memorial Fund. We are grateful for the financial gift and for the opportunity to offer this new service to our community.

The Mound City Library's Hall of Fame features top readers.
