PLEASANTON – Food donations to the ninth annual Holiday Sale and Food Drive in Pleasanton earlier this month continued to come in more than a week after the event. On Tuesday, event organizer Shannon Barbee reported that 145 families were each given food bags.

Each bag contained a full Thanksgiving dinner, plus three more meals

"God blessed us this year, so we could bless others," Barbee said.

The goal this year was to be able to provide food for about the same number of families as last year. In 2020 the event fed Thanksgiving meals and provided additional food to more than 150 families.

Although Barbee and her friend Dianna Smith, both from Pleasanton, do much of the work in organizing the food drive, contacting potential donors, buying food with monetary donations, filling the bags and delivering bags to families. It usually takes two days or more for the meals to get distributed.

Barbee said that the pair get some help from volunteers at the holiday sale and food drive event.
