Holiday shopping, eating burritos and collecting food to provide a good Thanksgiving for people who could use the help. What better way to spend a Saturday?
The ninth annual Holiday Sale and Food Drive is slated for this Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Pleasanton School Annex building at 309 W.13th Street. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features as many 20 local vendors selling a variety of items, according to organizer Shannon Barbee.
Vendors will have crafts and gift items to sell, along with baked good, antiques and custom creations.
The Pleasanton High School seniors will be selling breakfast burritos in the morning and chicken burritos later in the day.
And of course, the main event is the food drive. Last year the event fed Thanksgiving meals and provided additional food to more than 150 families, and organizers are hoping to top that this year.
Bring non-perishable food items to donate. For every can donated, participants will receive a raffle ticket. At the end of the day, tickets will be drawn and door prizes awarded. Several of the prizes will be very nice, Barbee said.
Vendors may still be accepted for the event. Contact Shannon Barbee at 913-352-6100 for more information.
