Pleasanton pool reopens after forced closure

PLEASANTON – The Pleasanton city swimming pool reopened Wednesday after it had been shut down for several days because of a filtering system malfunction. The shut down occurred during some of the hottest days of the year so far.

Pleasanton City Administrator Teresa Whitaker said the filtering system, which uses an old sand filter, was unable to create enough suction to draw water through the filter. That kept workers from being able to add chemicals to treat the water as well.

The pool is nearly 60 years old.
