Pleasanton USD 344 hires new teachers, accepts resignations


PLEASANTON – Teachers and other staff will make up one of the snow days it took earlier this year when officials called school on account of winter weather. The Pleasanton USD 344 Board of Education at its meeting on Monday, April 11, designated next Monday, April 18, as staff in-service and makeup day.

The board also approved the purchase of a new phone system once funds were available, however, it tabled a decision on proceeding with plans for a fundraiser for volleyball.


The board approved the hiring of Tara Carpenter as school athletic director for the 2022-23 school year. Carpenter will replace Matt Cochran, who is retiring at the end of the this school year.

Former Blu-Jay teacher John Heidrick will be returning to the halls of Pleasanton Junior High as a history teacher next year.


The board also hired Billy Roudybush to teach math to both junior and senior high students and Tanner Edwards as an elementary physical education and technology teacher for the next school year.

It accepted the resignations of teachers Shelby Karst, Sydney Dent, Sarah Hendricks and Caleb Hendricks effective at the end of this school year.


The board accepted the resignation of Maggie Knox as a junior high track coach effective immediately, and hired Jessica Myrick to replace her. Knox also resigned as junior high scholars bowl coach at the end of the current school year.


The board also hired Laura Wilson as a substitute rider for special education and Shawn Conley as a substitute special education driver/rider.
