For the second year in a row, the Prairie View High School band has received a I rating at the State Large Group Music Festival. The festival was on Wednesday, April 13, at Iola High School.
A I rating is the top rating in state music competition.
Band director Jeffrey Russell said the band was rated by a panel of judges. The band received three straight I ratings, giving the band an overall rating of I.
Russell said was very happy with the band's performance. He also said that his musicians have continued to improve each year.
"The band performed 'Our Heritage March,' by Karl King arranged by James Swearingen, and 'They Led My Lord Away,' arraigned by Fred Allen," Russell said.
