The Prairie View varsity girls track team took a second-place finish at the Louisburg Invitational meet on Thursday, April 21. Strong performances by runners, throwers and jumpers helped seal the win.
The Spring Hill girls team won the meet with 189, followed by the Lady Buffalos with 130 points. Louisburg was third with 119 points.
Prairie View boys had strong performances as well, with Dakota Stogsdill finishing third in the pole vault and the 4x100 meter relay team finishing fourth.
Freshman distance runner Bree Allen owned the 1,600- and 3,200-meter events for the girls. She finished first in both events. Fellow freshman Kally Stroup placed second in the 1,600-meter run, and freshman Wylie Teagarden took fourth in the 3,200 meter.
Kinley Baker and Jessica Petric finished second and third respectively in the 100-meter dash. Petric and Kelsey Knitzer placed third and fourth respectively in the 200 meter with Laney Shaffer placing as well.
Maddie Baker placed second in the 100-meter hurdles, with Jane Hough coming in third and Hallie Snyder placing fifth. In the 300-meter hurdles, Hough was third and Snyder placed sixth.
Relay teams for the girls placed second in both the 4x100 meter and the 4x400 meter races.
Hough also placed second in the pole vault, with Lexie Baker taking fifth place. Maddie Baker placed third in the triple jump, followed by Shaffer with a sixth-place finish.
Lilah McCarty placed fifth in the discus, and Kylee Eastwood took fifth in the javelin.
