Prairie View's appeal for new board member gets response from Linn Valley resident

LA CYGNE – Richard Gravelle, a retired teacher, responded on Monday to a Facebook post by the Prairie View USD 362 central office seeking a board member to represent District No. 4, which includes Linn Valley and a portion of southeast Miami County.

Gravelle offered his services to the Prairie View school board during its meeting on Aug. 8. A vocational technology teacher who taught automotive collision repair for the Kansas City, Kan., and Turner school district, he also taught for 12 years at Kansas City, Kansas, Community College.

Gravelle said he moved to Linn Valley about three years ago.

The district has been looking for a member from District No. 4 since Maggie Peterson resigned from the post in June because she and her family were moving out of state.
