Prairie View school board, Parker council seats filled

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

MOUND CITY – While the Linn County Commission will not officially canvass the results of the Nov. 2 election until this next Monday, Nov. 15, two write-in candidates appear to have clinched seats in local races.

County Clerk David Lamb said on Tuesday, Nov. 9, that Robert Suppenbach of Linn Valley had seven write-in votes, enough to make him the District 4 representative to the Prairie View USD 362 Board of Education. No one filed for that position and so it was up to voters to cast write-in ballots. The second-place finisher had two votes.

And in Parker, Candace Higgins won the write-in ballot for city councilwoman with six votes. Again, the runner-up had two votes. Incumbents Gary Early and Jerry Summers were reelected in that race, and both filed to be on the ballot.

No totals are official until the commissioners have complete their canvass of the ballots.
