LA CYGNE – Although the Prairie View women’s varsity cross country team did not get the top team honors last Thursday, Sept. 23, at the 2021 Ramsey Cross Country Invitational meet, the women continued to post top times. And they did well enough as a team to place second at their home meet behind a perennially strong and deep Louisburg team.

Bree Allen, PV freshman, took first place on the 5K course with a time of 20:32.00, more than a minute faster than the second-place finisher. Two more PV freshman finished high in the pack: Wylie Teagarden placed fifth with a time of 22:06.90, and Kally Stroup was 12 at 23:17.00.

Other PV runners included Jessica Petric, 22nd place; Kelsie Konitzer, 25th; and Ashlyn Kennedy, 29th.

Marissa Batcheler, a junior, was the top finisher for Jayhawk-Linn. She placed 18th with a time of 24:11.00. She was followed closely by junior Jayhawk Cynthia Cazares, who placed 20th with a time of 24:29.75.

Other Jayhawk runners included Gia Schneider, 26th, and Brylee Doleshal, 31st.

In the varsity men’s race, Jayhawk junior Dakota Wallace place 16th with a time of 19:28.66. He was followed closely by teammates Dillon Champlin, 18th, and Corbin White, 19th.

Prairie View’s seniors Alex Petty and Donovan Law finished 31st and 33rd, respectively.

In the junior varsity girls race, PV senior Alyssa Page placed seventh, Pleasanton High School freshman Rees Chapman was eighth and PV sophomore Breanna Rhynerson was ninth.

Jayhawk junior Chance Proffitt placed ninth in the mens junior varsity run followed by PV sophomore Harvey Guerrero in 10th. Other PV runners in that race included freshman Coltaun Bartlett, 12th, and sophomore Creed Caldwell, 16th.

Pleasanton, Jayhawk and Prairie View runners are scheduled to compete Thursday, Sept. 30, at Central Heights. Middle school races begin at 3:50 p.m. followed by junior varsity and varsity.
