LA CYGNE – The Prairie View varsity volleyball team is off to one of the best starts in recent memory. Under the coaching of head coach Taylor Bauer, the team’s record is 14 wins and eight losses.
In the latest match in league play on Thursday, Sept. 30, the Lady Buffalos posted a 3-1 win over a persistent Osawatomie team at home.
Emma Chambers started the first set with an ace to set the pace for Prairie View. The Lady Trojans worked to keep the score close early, but kills by Kinley Baker and Janey Hough widened Prairie View’s lead.
A key block by setter Braxton Stainbrook pushed the lead to 16-12, and an ace by Julia Paisley gave Prairie View the win, 25-17.
The Lady Buffalos were equally strong in taking the second set, but Osawatomie rallied back to win the third, 25-20, despite a valiant dig by Prairie View’s Brooklyn Moore on set point.
The fourth set, however, was Prairie View’s. But after building a 22-8 lead on a kill by Chambers, Prairie View allowed an Osawatomie rally. But a kill by Lady Buffalo Lexi Baker ended the set with a 25-16 win for Prairie View.
