MOUND CITY – Linn County Public Works has announced that 2025 Road, east of Radcliff (between Ragains and Radcliff roads) will be closed starting Sept. 12 for approximately 30 to 45 days for construction.
The county has been looking at finding a way to stabilize the bend in 2025 Road, which is being undermined by the Marais des Cygne River. (Google Earth maps)
In June the Linn County Commission agreed to relocate and blacktop a section of Radcliff Road near Reagan Road that is being washed away by the Marais de Cygnes River. An adjacent landowner, Getter Farms, planned to build dikes to protect cropland from flooding, and the commission approved rebuilding the road.
At that time, County Counselor Gary Thompson said the county was under somewhat of a time constraint because the work had to be done by the end of the year because Getter Farms had licensing in place to build the dike. However, work on the dike could not begin until the road was done.
Thompson told the commissioners in June that they had four options to choose from: relocate and put a hard surface on the road raising it; relocate and gravel the road; leave it where it is; or close the road.
