MOUND CITY – The Linn County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday, Feb. 28, that for the previous week, the office had 20 prisoners, with 17 of those being housed in the county jail and three being held in jails outside the county. Office personnel had 1,068 contacts with prisoners.
The office received 308 calls for service during the week, including 86 calls to the 911 emergency system. Deputies also recorded serving civil papers 38 times along with 14 vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections.
Investigators opened 21 new cases, including criminal and child-in-need-of-care cases. Fifteen cases were closed during the week.
Deputies worked five vehicle crashes, and two instances of working livestock out. Bailiff activities included 53 contacts in court, and school resource officers (SROs) in the six schools in the county had 108 calls for service.
