Suicide prevention program offered at La Cygne Library

A friend leaves a despondent post on her Facebook page. A grown child can’t seem to pull himself out of deep depression. You don’t know what to do or how to respond because you don’t want that person to shrink away from any help you could offer.

The Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center (SEKMHC) and the La Cygne Library are conducting two sessions on Monday, Sept. 26, on how to recognize someone who might be suicidal and what you can do to get them help instead of following through.

Question. Persuade. Refer. Those are the steps in the QPR Suicide Prevention Training being offered at the library at 209 N. Broadway. The training is being offered during two time slots: from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Shelly Kelley with SEKMHC will be conducting the training.

To register for the training, call the La Cygne Library at (913) 757-2151.
