Suspect quickly apprehended following robbery of pharmacy

Updated: Jun 28

LA CYGNE – It did not take long for several law enforcement officials to react to an armed robbery of a La Cygne pharmacy last week.

At about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, a lone gunman entered Silver Creek Pharmacy on Market Street demanding prescription drugs.

La Cygne Police Chief Tina Fenoughty said the central dispatch in Mound City received a 911 call while the robbery was taking place. Officers from La Cygne and Linn Valley police departments responded to the call as did deputies from the Linn County Sheriff’s Department. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had fled the scene.

Using a recording from the pharmacy’s video camera and witness interviews, La Cygne and county law enforcement offices were able to develop leads in the case, and quickly determined that the suspect and the vehicle he was driving were in Pleasanton. Fenoughty said the video recording was very helpful in quickly identifying the robber.

According to Fenoughty, the Pleasanton police located the vehicle and soon after police from both cities were able to apprehend the suspect without further incident.

Robert Woody III of Pleasanton was taken into custody for alleged aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon. Fenoughty said the suspect used a handgun in the robbery.
