Two arrested for alleged drug distribution following traffic stop

MOUND CITY – Linn County Sheriff Kevin Friend announced on Friday that two people were taken into custody on suspicion of distributing drugs following a traffic stop on Thursday, March 17.

According to Friend, a 2008 Chevy Tahoe was stopped for a minor traffic infraction by a sheriff’s deputy on U.S. Highway 69 near Pleasanton. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he immediately noticed the distinct odor of marijuana.

Law enforcement officers searched the vehicle and several derivatives of what is believed to be marijuana were found along with what is suspected to be drugs. More than $22,000 in cash was also found in the vehicle.

Two people were taken in custody at the scene and were being held in the Linn County jail pending charges.
