Commission appoints 10 to county childcare committee

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners approved 10 people to be place on the childcare committee on Monday, April 4.


Economic Development Director Jessica Hightower gave the following names to the commissioners for the childcare committee. They are Amanda Snyder, Linn County Health Department; Janet Reynolds, La Cygne Library; Jessica Cohen SEKCAP; Margaret Goodison, a former special education teacher; Michelle Spears, a former childcare provider; Morgan Northcutt, Deputy County Clerk; Pam Johnson, former school nurse and spouse of Commission Chair Jim Johnson; Russell Pope, Prairie View USD 362 Board of Education member; Stephanie Helm, former childcare provider; and Tiffany Ellett, La Cygne Elementary School principal.


Deb Danielson from Childcare Aware of Eastern Kansas is going to guide the committee in this endeavor, said Hightower.


At an earlier meeting, Hightower said that the committee will work with existing and potential childcare providers to see what they need to support them.
