Linn Valley city clerk announces retirement, replacement hired

LINN VALLEY – The Linn Valley City Council voted unanimously to promote Assistant City Clerk Mendi Cyr to the city clerk position. The vote came after a 15-minute closed-door session to discuss personnel matters at its meeting on Monday, March 11.

Cyr will replace Karen Siffring, who announced her decision to retire this summer in a letter to the council dated Feb. 26. Siffring’s final day in office will be July 5. The council conferred with Siffring during the executive session before emerging to select Cyr to succeed her.

Once Mayor Lewis Donelson called for a motion to promote Cyr, there was discussion on when to advertise for a new assistant city clerk. It was decide to delay hiring an assistant until closer to Siffring’s retirement date.

Cyr was hired to the assistant post last September after Siffring told the council that she needed additional help in her office.

The council also voted to appoint Brad Kalush to the Linn Valley Planning and Zoning Commission. He will replace Gregg Ahnemann.
