BLUE MOUND – A 24-year-old Fort Scott man was transported by LifeFlight Eagle air ambulance to Overland Park Medical Center after the 1999 Ford F350 truck he was driving left the roadway, struck utility poles and knocked down a power line on Wednesday, May 29.

According to a report filed by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was traveling east on Kansas Highway 31 when it crossed the center line, striking the power poles and downing power lines before coming to rest about 50 yards west of the intersection of 400 Road and County Road 1077.

According to the report, driver Glen Pearson of Fort Scott was able to exit the vehicle before losing consciousness. The report said that “open containers of alcohol were scattered across the field.”

The report also indicated that a blood test was taken at the scene but the results weren’t immediately known.
