Since 2005, Walnut Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast has been serving visitors to Linn, Miami, Anderson and Franklin counties in east-central Kansas.

Walnut Hill Farm located in a quiet rural setting 50 minutes south of the Kansas City metro area. The English cottage-style inn sits on 40 acres of woodland and pasture land. Breakfasts are an option.

We are a five-star, guest favorite super-host on Airbnb, and we strive to make every visit one to remember. See reviews from our guests below.

About the bed and breakfast…..

While a couple rooms are undergoing remodeling this summer, we currently have a suite available with two bedrooms with queen-size beds. The suite has a bath that is shared by the guests staying at the suite. The suite has a private entrance, and there is no problem with late night/early morning arrivals and departures.

The suite has a compact refrigerator and microwave. There is a country cafe in Parker. Other options are 20 minutes away.

The grounds include about a mile of mowed trails that take walkers or runners through pasture and woodlands.

The farm is also set up with high speed web access and is a perfect place for those doing business in the area. There is plenty of work space and few distractions.

Our rooms are dog friendly, however, because of wildlife and farm animals, dogs should be on a leash when outside. Dogs cannot be left in the room when guests are not there. There are exceptions that can be worked out with us.

Our prices begin at $85 a night for one bed plus a one time $10 cleaning fee. Add a second bedroom for $20 a night. Call or email to make a reservation, or go to our Airbnb website.

About the area.....

A variety of wildlife and wild birds can be seen at the farm. However, a short drive away are both the state-managed Marais des Cygnes Wildlife area and the federal Marais des Cygne National Wildlife Refuge. The state area is a major stop on spring and fall migrations for birds ranging from geese to pelicans.

Stargazing is at an optimum here away from the lights of the city.

Another attraction is the close proximity of two extensive rail trails: the Prairie Spirit Rail Trail from Ottawa south to Iola and the Flint Hills Rail Trail from Osawatomie to Herington. We've also been a stop for cyclists pedaling from coast to coast and motorcyclists just cruising the countryside.

Other attractions within 50 miles include antique shopping, local auctions and farmers' markets, historical sites including the Battle of Mine Creek and the St. Philippine Duchesne Park, Linn County Park and lake, the Sugar Mound Arts and Crafts Festival which is one of the largest in the region, an annual electronic dance music festival Dancefestopia, and a variety of small town events.

We were in Parker Ks to visit family and if you’re familiar with the area, there are very few places to lodge. We only stayed one night but were extremely pleased with our accommodations.

April trip. Easy access to Marais des Cygnes both NWR and wildlife area - where we spent a couple days and could have spent a couple more. Apartment is the front part of their house. Private entrance. Very pleasant - attractive, simple, and clean. Nice shower. Nice beds. 2 levels.

This is my 3rd time staying at this location. We love everything about it.

This is the best place to stay within the area especially if you are looking for a quiet, clean and private stay. It was very sweet to come back from supper to warm cookies and to have homemade muffins in the morning. Their property walking/jogging trail makes for a great place to workout or go for a walk. The gravel road is good for longer runs too. Lots of deer and birds to be seen. We would stay here again.
