Bernard "Buck" Lee Toncray

Bernard Lee “Buck” Toncray age 88, of Paola, Kansas, passed away quietly on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Olathe Medical Center. Buck was born January 25, 1937, in Drexel, one of eight children of Delbert Dale and Beryle Maude (Graham) Toncray. He grew up in Osawatomie, Kansas, where he graduated with the Osawatomie High School Class of 1955. 



Following graduation, Buck began his career as a Telephone Technician and later retired from Sprint. Alongside his career, he enjoyed being a farmer. 


On March 15, 1957, Buck was united in marriage to Mildred Ann “Midge” Graves in Osawatomie. Together they built a life filled with love and raised three children: Vickie, Nancy, and Buddy. Buck was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Fontana, Kansas. His faith, family, and strong work ethic were central to his life. 


He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Midge of the home; daughter Nancy Ward and her husband Duane; grandson Bradley Ward and wife Natalia; and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind three sisters, Flo Hartley (Ed), Nonie Snider (Danny), and Susie Miller (Duaine) along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Bernard “Buddy” Toncray Jr., daughter Vickie Lea Toncray, his parents, and four sisters. 


In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be sent to Tri-Ko.


A graveside service will be conducted from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Fontana Cemetery, 610 N. Osage Street, Fontana, Kansas.
