The ballfields at Mound City were crowded with families on Saturday, March 30, for the annual Easter egg hunt. The weather, which had been sunny and chilly earlier in the morning, warmed by the 11 p.m. start.

With egg hunters divided into age groups across the three ball diamonds, the call to start saw children, and in the case of the younger kids, their parents sweep over the grass to collect thousands of plastic eggs.

Once the eggs were collected and the hunt was over, it was time for family groups to began opening the eggs to find sweets and in some cases tickets for prize baskets and scooters.
