Janet Annette Santana age 63 of Paola, KS, died Monday December 11, 2023, at the home of a loved one in LaCygne, KS.

Janet was born January 30, 1960 in Olathe, KS. She was the youngest of three children born to Orville George and Velma Elanor (Cox) Barnes. She grew up in Olathe where she attended school at Santa Fe Trail and Olathe North.


During her working years, Janet worked at Hi-Line Plastics in Olathe for 15 years. She also worked for Molly Maids, Best Western and Price Chopper as a cake decorator. She then went to work in the housekeeping department at the Osawatomie State Hospital.

In her spare time, Janet enjoyed drawing, painting, swimming and boating. She never missed a birthday party, Christmas or event for her children and grandchildren. Janet loved getting her nails done and shopping.


She was preceded in death by her parents.


Survivors include her siblings; Brent Barnes and Georgia McKinney; her children; Christopher Gorge (Amanda) Wilson, Jesse Lee Kern, Kara Dawn Maupin and Antonia Annette Santana; six grandchildren; Sara, Rachel, Lucious, HarleyQuinn, Brianna, and Perseus; and longtime boyfriend; Steve Wilson.


Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main Street, Osawatomie, KS 66064. Graveside service following visitation at Prairie Home Cemetery, Maddox Road, La Cygne, Kansas 66040.
