Press release
The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced that a resurfacing project will begin the week of June 9 on U.S. HIghway 169 in Anderson County, and a similar project will begin on U.S. 169 in Miami County the week of June 16.
The Anderson County project will apply hot-mix asphalt from the Allen/Anderson county line to 500 Road. Work is expected to be completed by mid-July, weather permitting.
The project in Miami County will apply ultra-thin bonded asphalt surfacing from 0.77 mile south of the K- 7/U.S. 169 south junction north to 1.42 miles south of the Miami/Johnson county line. Work is expected to be completed by mid-August, weather permitting.
During both phases of construction, traffic will be managed by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared for stops and potential delays of up to 15 minutes.
Bettis Asphalt and Construction, based in Topeka, is the prime contractor for both projects. The cost of the Anderson County project is $760,000, and the 21.1-mile Miami County project will cost $3.9 million.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones.
