Roger Carl Obermeier Jr. age 62 of Parker, KS died Saturday November 25, 2023 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission.


Roger was born June 9, 1961 in Paola, KS. He was one of two children born to Roger Carl Sr. and Shirley Jean (Flesher) Obermeier. Roger grew up in Paola, KS. He attended Hillsdale K-4th and then the rest of his schooling was in Paola. He graduated with the Paola High School Class of 1979.


After high school, Roger went to work for the Osawatomie State Hospital. He started as a License Mental Health Technician. He continued his education in nursing while working at the hospital. In 1991, Roger graduated with his nursing degree from Neosho County Community College. He then became the night nursing supervisor for a number of years. Roger fully retired after 42 years in April 2023.


On May 16, 1981, Roger and Brenda Quincy were united in marriage at Holy Trinity in Paola. To this union came three children, Shane, Shawna and Shea. They made their home in Parker, Kansas.


In his free time, Roger enjoyed keeping his yard nice and aspired to be a gardener. He was an avid sports fan. Kansas City Chiefs football was his favorite team to cheer on. Roger loved to cook for his family, especially his Gumbo and Chili. Papa was the greatest title he had. He and Brenda attended as many of the events as they could of their grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his father Roger Obermeier Sr. and grandparents.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Brenda of the home; children Shane (Jacqueline) Obermeier of LaCygne, KS, Shawna (Zane) Conner of Tanglewood, KS, and Shea (Krystal) Obermeier of Russell, KS; mother Shirley Obermeier; one sister, Melanie Smith of Paola, KS; seven grandchildren, Brandon Obermeier, Ashton Obermeier, Kiera Obermeier, Brylynn Conner, Lily Obermeier, Cainen Conner and Dylan Obermeier.


Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main Street, Osawatomie, Kansas.
