Blue Mound man fatally injured in head-on accident with semi

MOUND CITY – A 45-year-old Blue Mound man was fatally injured on Wednesday, June 21, when the 1992 Ford pickup he was driving struck a semi tractor head-on six miles south of Mound City.


According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, Denver Lee Reagan Jr. was driving a pickup southbound on Kansas Highway 7 at about 7:30 a.m. when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 1977 Kenworth driven by Tom Ray Snyder, 67, of Fulton.


After colliding with the semi, Reagan’s vehicle went into the southbound ditch and caught fire. He died at the scene from his injuries.


The trooper making the report said that he was unable to determine if Reagan was wearing a seatbelt.


According to the report, Snyder had no apparent injuries.
