Bob Walrod

March 8, 1945 — August 25, 2026

Robert “Bob” Eugene Walrod, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Bob was born on March 8,1945, in Kansas City, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, was a pilot and was a longtime supporter of the Republican Party. On April 20, 1968, Bob was united in marriage to Leona Swickard.

Together, they built a wonderful family of six children. As devout Catholics, Bob and Leona made their faith a cornerstone of their family life. You could always catch Bob in the dugout coaching little league baseball, at a cattle auction and Sunday morning mass at church. Bob spent his career in the cattle and ranching industry. He was a gifted sale barn owner and order buyer and proudly served many customers through his cattle business.

He was a natural storyteller and loved entertaining family and friends. Bob especially enjoyed cooking and grilling, weekends at the lake, hunting, fishing, and listening to country music. Bob developed a deep affinity for all things Kansas State and proudly supported the Wildcats.

Bob was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Walrod and parents, Everette and Maxine Pritchett Walrod. He is survived by his sister, Sandy Walrod; his loving and faithful wife of 58 years, Leona; and their six children: Garren (Heidi) Walrod, Jason (Tara) Walrod, Tammy (Tyler) Olson, Jarod Walrod, Nicole (Kinney) Harrell, and Zachary (Carly) Walrod. Bob was a proud grandfather to his twelve grandchildren: Reece, Carter, Brooklyn, Olivia, Sawyer, Korbin, Averie, Kindall, Kain, Colt, Remington, and Sauer.

Bob will be remembered for his unwavering faith, devotion to his family, love of the outdoors, generosity, and the countless memories he created with friends and family gathered. His legacy will live on through the family he loved so deeply

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Fort Scott, Kansas. Burial will be in Fort Scott National Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed 5 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City Chapel. Visitation will follow the Rosary until 7 pm.
